DE SOTO, Iowa — A semi driver is dead after crashing on I-80 early Monday morning, an Iowa State Patrol crash report said.
While traveling east on I-80 around 1:30 a.m. on Monday, a driver "failed to negotiate a lane shift", which caused the semi to hit a crash attenuator and roll onto its side near mile marker 111.
During the crash, the gas tank ruptured and the semi-truck went up in flames. The crash report said the driver was trapped inside when this happened.
It appears only the semi driver was involved in the incident.
The driver's name and further details about the crash have not yet been released.
