JOHNSTON, Iowa — A movie theater in Johnston has closed its doors for good.
The AMC Classic Johnston 16, located on NW 86th Street, is permanently closed, the theater franchise said on its website.
The theater in Johnston was the only remaining AMC theater in the Des Moines metro. Classic Cobblestone 9 in Urbandale closed last year, while Classic Southridge 12 closed in January.
Now that the Johnston location is closed, the nearest AMC theater is located in Kansas City.
AMC still has theaters in Sioux City, Council Bluffs and Dubuque.
