Caitlin Clark appears on 'ManningCast,' talks Hawkeye basketball and Chiefs fandom

From throwback photos to a Travis Kelce-related prediction, the Iowa women's basketball star stole the show on Monday night.

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles 21-17 on "Monday Night Football" in a rematch of last year's Super Bowl.

But in a game with two Kelce brothers, a national audience and a crushing ending for Chiefs fans (or thrilling if you're on the Philly side), it was Iowa women's basketball star Caitlin Clark who took center stage.

Clark was a guest on ESPN's "ManningCast" broadcast, hosted by former NFL quarterbacks and brothers Peyton and Eli Manning.

Here's a quick recap of all the TV talk and shenanigans from Monday night.

"I've been a Chiefs fan since I was a young girl"

While Clark said a photo of her donning the KC gear as a kid was "embarrassing," that wasn't enough to keep the ESPN crews from airing the photo live.

However, she also said she was a "huge" Peyton Manning fan as well growing up, even having a No. 18 Indianapolis Colts jersey.

Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce: "They're one of the best duos"

Before there was Taylor and Travis, there was Mahomes and Travis, and it's a combination that Clark knows is legendary.

"Good point guard, good post player, good quarterback, great tight end," Clark said, comparing the QB-to-TE connection to her own hoops squad. "They're fun to watch, they make football exciting."

A perfect Travis Kelce-related prediction

Halfway through the second quarter with the game tied 7-7, Clark made a prediction: "We're getting a touchdown ... Kelce's just gonna run around, find an open spot, catch it. Him and Mahomes just have that connection. Kelce touchdown, right here."

Sure enough, Kansas City's drive ended just like that, with a 4-yard touchdown pass from Mahomes to Kelce. And Clark demanded some accountability from the Manning brothers.

"PUT ME ON THE PERFECT PREDICTION BOARD!!!!!!" she posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"Consider Caitlin Clark added," Omaha Productions responded.

The Iowa State Fair butter sculpture

In case you missed it, Clark was enshrined in Iowa history in a unique way over the summer as a butter sculpture at the Iowa State Fair.

"You were honored in a very uniquely, Iowan way," Eli Manning said. "Where does being carved in butter rank among all your honors?"

"That's up there with the best of them," Clark answered. "If you're from Iowa, everyone knows, being sculpted out of butter is one of the top things. You go to the Iowa State Fair to see the butter sculpture, so when they asked me I was like 'Obviously yes, I would love to do that' so it was pretty cool."

The question and answer was followed up with some interesting, AI-inspired butter renditions of Peyton Manning. You can see that at the 11:35 mark in the video link below.
