DES MOINES, Iowa — A beloved Latin restaurant in downtown Des Moines will close for good this month after a decade in business.
Malo, a restaurant known for its tacos, margaritas and "inventive Mexican dishes", is closing its doors on Saturday, April 27, the restaurant announced Tuesday.
"Over the past decade, we’ve been fortunate to serve our community," the restaurant wrote on Facebook. "From office lunches to nights on the town; impromptu happy hours to corporate banquets, rehearsal dinners, prom groups and everything in between, we’re honored you chose to dine with us."
The restaurant did not specify why it planned to close, only that the closing aligns with the end of the restaurant's lease.
"While it’s bittersweet to say goodbye, we appreciate your years of support and the memories made in our restaurant," the restaurant shared in its post.
Gift cards will be honored through the final day of service.
Anyone with an event booked at Malo can expect a member of the staff to reach out with accommodations and assistance in moving the reservation.
Malo is just one restaurant under the Orchestrate Hospitality umbrella. Orchestrate Hospitality manages several restaurant brands across the metro, including Bubba, Centro, Django and Gateway Market.
