Raising Cane's proposes new location near Des Moines' Southridge Mall

The fast-food chain aims to bring a 3,336 square-foot restaurant to Southeast 14th Street, replacing The Twisted Bean Coffee Kiosk.

DES MOINES, Iowa — Caniacs on the south side of Des Moines, rejoice: A new location of the popular chain could pop up near Southridge Mall.

Raising Cane's aims to bring a 3,336 square-foot restaurant to Southeast 14th Street, replacing The Twisted Bean Coffee Kiosk.

The Louisana-based chain that sells only chicken strips, chicken sandwiches and sides — including coleslaw, Texas toast and fries — would be the Des Moines metro's 4th location. The other three restaurants are situated in West Des Moines, Altoona and, most recently, Johnston.

This new storefront would have a two-lane drive-thru, dining room and the usual Cane's signage outside, according to renderings of the proposed store.

The developer, Global Des Moines, will attend Thursday's City Planning and Zoning Commission meeting to seek necessary approval for the new location.
