Des Moines Arts Festival

  • When: Friday, June 28 and Saturday, June 29, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. and Sunday, June 30, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Where: Western Gateway Park (1205 Locust St., Des Moines)
  • Price: Free

Nearly 200 artists from across the country will attend this annual festival. Explore the various art forms, watch a film at the Interrobang Film Festival, enjoy food from nearly 30 food vendors or sit down for a performance at this free, family-friendly event. 

Iowa Cubs games

  • When: Friday, June 28 at 7:08 p.m., Saturday, June 29 at 6:08 p.m. and Sunday, June 30 at 1:08 p.m.
  • Where: Principal Park (1 Line Dr., Des Moines)
  • Price: Tickets start at $10

A summer evening at the ballpark is just what you need to close out June. This weekend, the Iowa Cubs will play a series against the St. Paul Saints. Attend the Friday game to catch post-game fireworks!

Des Moines Menace game

  • When: Saturday, June 29, 7 p.m.
  • Where: Valley Stadium (4440 Mills Civic Parkway, West Des Moines)
  • Price: Tickets start at $10

The Des Moines Menace will face off against River Light FC on Pride Night. Ticket proceeds from the game will go toward the Iowa LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce. The first 500 fans who arrive will receive a free t-shirt! 

Valley Junction Pride

  • When: Sunday, June 30, 12-4 p.m.
  • Where: Railroad Park (101 5th St., West Des Moines)
  • Price: Free

Sunday is the last day of Pride Month, so send it off in style! Valley Junction is hosting its first ever Pride festival, complete with a pet parade, maker's market, drag story time and more.

Summer Sundaze

  • When: Sunday, June 30, 6-8 p.m.
  • Where: Jamie Hurd Amphitheater (223 S 35th St., West Des Moines)
  • Price: Free

Avoid the Sunday scaries with this sweet event. Grab dessert from Foods N' Such and enjoy a concert from Guitarras ATM. If you can't make it this week, don't worry: this event happens weekly on Sundays until Sept. 8, featuring a rotating array of performers and vendors.
