DES MOINES, Iowa — As winter approaches and days get shorter, it's easy to get stuck in your routines. If you're fighting the urge to stay in all weekend, these events might change your mind.

It's opening night for the Iowa Wolves this weekend! Kick off the season at home with two games. On Friday, the team will face the Wisconsin Herd, and the first 1,500 fans will receive a clear, Wolves-branded bag in celebration. Then, on Saturday, the Wolves will play the Sioux Falls Skyforce.

- Where: Class Act Productions Community Theatre (201 1st Ave S, Altoona)
- Price: $16 for adults, $14 for seniors and $10 for students
Support local kids in the arts by attending the last weekend of "Anastasia: The Musical." The hour-long adaptation of the Broadway hit follows Anastasia as she attempts to uncover the mystery of her past.

- The show is age restricted to anyone 21 or older

A comedy show and a night at the zoo - what more could you ask for? This month's show will be held at Blank Park Zoo... but that's about all we know. At Don't Tell Comedy Shows, fans go in blind: You won't know who's performing until you arrive at the venue!
The show will be held indoors and drinks will be available for purchase. Chairs will be provided, and attendees will receive private access to zoo attractions in the Discovery Center before the show.

The Des Moines Gamer Symphony Orchestra is putting on its final performance of 2024! This Sunday, the group will divide into a full orchestra and a concert band to perform some classic video game tunes.
