DES MOINES, Iowa — It's shaping up to be a busy weekend in central Iowa. Between the Super Bowl and early Valentine's Day plans, there are a variety of events to attend in the Des Moines metro.

Join the Central Iowa Blues Society for two nights of music and fun. With 20 total acts, including JD Simo, Carolyn Wonderland, Indigenous and Toronzo Cannon, the event is sure to shake you out of your winter blues.

Iowa's "premiere African American festival" is celebrating 26 years of showcasing African American culture in the state. The two-day event consists of an "Education Day" and a "Celebration Day", occurring on Friday and Saturday respectively.
Commemorate Black History Month and enjoy workshops, a resource fair, multiple performances and plenty of local vendors.

The Des Moines Civic Center welcomes another classic musical to its stage this week. Stephen Sondheim's "Company" is the winner of five Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical.
Described as "boldly sophisticated, deeply insightful, and downright hilarious", this musical comedy will delight audiences and remind you of the beauty of "Being Alive".

Forget the Super Bowl: The Puppy Bowl is where it's at. This year, five puppies from AHeinz57 Pet Rescue and Transport will participate in the Puppy Bowl. Cheer on these Iowa pups with fellow fans while enjoying food, prizes and more.
