DES MOINES, Iowa — Grammy award-winning artist Barry Manilow announced Tuesday that he will perform in Des Moines, one last time.
The Des Moines stop is part of a larger farewell concert tour, dubbed "Manilow: The Last Concerts". In addition to Des Moines, Manilow will make stops in other Midwest cities including St. Paul, Omaha and Chicago.
“It’s been an incredible journey, and I’m grateful for all the love and support over the years,” Manilow said in a press release.
80-year-old Manilow is best known for his hit songs "Could it be Magic," "Looks Like We Made it" and "Copacabana". A 2002 Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee, Manilow has sold more than 85 million albums worldwide, making him one of the world's bestselling recording artists.
According to his biography for the Songwriters Hall of Fame, "Barry Manilow's unparalleled career is made up of virtually every facet of music, including performing, composing, arranging, and producing."
The singer-songwriter is no stranger to awards having received a Grammy, an Emmy and a TONY award. Manilow was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1979, for his song "Ready to Take a Chance Again".
Manilow will bid farewell to Des Moines on Aug. 1 at the Wells Fargo Arena. Tickets go on sale Feb. 2 at 10 a.m.
