DES MOINES, Iowa — Award-winning astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson is bringing an out-of-this-world pop culture experience to Des Moines next spring.

The "Cosmos" host will present "An Astrophysicist Goes to the Movies" at the Des Moines Civic Center on Wednesday, April 23.

Throughout the presentation, Tyson will review films such as "Star Wars", "Armageddon" and "The Martian" to see what the movies got wrong, and occasionally right, about science. The presentation will incorporate classic films and newer releases, ensuring there's something for every viewer.

Tyson currently serves as the head of the Hayden Planetarium in New York City. He is also a research associate for the astrophysics department at the American Museum of Natural History.

Tickets for the event go on sale Friday, Oct. 4. For more information, visit the Des Moines Performing Arts website.
