Wrap & Wine organizer Alyssa Proffitt is one of the few people who enjoy wrapping holiday presents. And she's pretty darn good at it! Especially when multiple cameras aren't staring her down for a live T.V. segment.
Proffitt's interest in gift wrapping actually began at her job as a dental assistant. Every Christmas, she packages gifts of toothbrushes, dental floss, and other teeth-related items for her office. But Proffitt knows others don't exactly have the same passion. That's what inspired her to organize the Wrap & Wine event.
Let Proffitt, and other wrapping aficionados, wrap your holiday presents this Sunday from noon to 4pm at The Cork 50131. Prices range from $2 to $115 dollars depending on the size and amount of gifts. All wrapping paper and accessories are provided, but discounts are available if you bring your own. Gift-wrapping proceeds will be donated to Variety: The Children's Charity!
Discount “candy cane” wine flights and Smorgas-boards will also be available for purchase.
You can register using this form.
Here are some holiday wrapping tricks and tips according to Proffitt.
- Measure carefully
- Make sure your piece of wrapping paper is just the right size, never too big or too small.
- Overlap doesn't matter
- For the initial fold, tape the paper to itself, not the box.
- Make a "down, in, and fold" motion
- If one side is too long, you can undo the tape on one side and slide the present over.
- Bring the ribbon over and under
- Don't cut the ribbon, or you might not have enough.
