Lou conducts the Des Moines Symphony! Don't forget to attend Yankee Doodle Pops this Wednesday at the Iowa State Capitol

Listen to patriotic favorites, grab a bite to eat and marvel at fireworks during Yankee Doodle Pops! The concert airs live on Iowa PBS.

Join the Des Moines Symphony and your fellow Iowans to celebrate Independence Day at the orchestra's 30th Annual Yankee Doodle Pops! On Wednesday, July 3, Music Director & Conductor Joseph Giunta and the musicians of the Des Moines Symphony perform time-honored patriotic favorites, including the 1812 Overture (complete with cannons!) and Stars & Stripes Forever. The Orchestra will be joined by legendary vocalist Hugh Panaro, who played the Phantom in over 2,000 performances of The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway. Enjoy live music paired with a fireworks display over downtown Des Moines!

In addition to the incredible music provided by the Des Moines Symphony Orchestra, Yankee Doodle Pops attendees can sample food and drinks from some of the best local and national vendors around. You can find all the delicious wares on Finkbine, right in front of the Capitol building. The concert begins at 8:30 PM, with a Concert Prelude Performance beginning at 6:30 PM.
