DES MOINES, Iowa — "Weird Al" Yankovic, whose rise to fame came from his wacky and catchy parodies of popular songs, will stop in Des Moines as part of his "BIGGER & WEIRDER" tour.
The tour kicks off in Las Vegas on June 13, 2025 and will continue at the Des Moines Civic Center on Friday, June 27.
The tour strikes a different chord than Yankovic's last two tours, which were held in smaller venues and consisted primarily of the artist's original music. This new tour will consist of large stages, more theatrics, costume changes and an eight-piece ensemble that is partially made up of Yankovic's original band.
"This is kind of a 'best of both worlds' tour," Yankovic said in a press release. "We'll be doing all the big crowd-pleasing parodies as well as some deep cuts for the hardcore fans - but with twice as many players on stage, everything is going to sound twice as good!"
"Weird Al" has a laundry list of notable parodies, such as "Amish Paradise," a parody of "Gangstas Paradise," and "Eat it," a parody of Michael Jackson's "Beat It." Throughout his career, Yankovic has received 5 Grammy awards alongside 17 total nominations over the course of his career. His previous album Mandatory Fun is the only comedy album to ever reach the number 1 spot on the Billboard Top 200.
Puddles Pity Party, a 7-foot sad singing clown, will open for Yankovic.
