Wells Fargo Arena to be renamed next year

Wells Fargo, the arena's original naming rights partner, decided not to renew its agreement with the venue.

DES MOINES, Iowa — One of Iowa's biggest concert venues and sporting facilities is getting a new name next year.

Wells Fargo Arena in downtown Des Moines will be renamed Casey's Center, effective July 1, 2025. The Polk County Board of Supervisors will vote on the name change at their meeting Tuesday.

"The Board of Supervisors takes pride in the impressive accomplishments of the Iowa Events Center and Arena over the last 20 years and the substantial impact it has had on our community. We are thrilled to have Casey’s as our next branding partner for the arena,” said Board Chair Angela Connolly, Polk County Board of Supervisors. “They are a home-grown company with a footprint in all corners of our state."

The new name is part of a 10-year naming rights partnership with Casey's. But the partnership goes beyond just the name: The beloved gas station and pizza chain will soon sell Casey's pizza and other branded snacks at the venue.

“As Casey’s grows and evolves, we are thrilled to share that Casey’s Center will be coming in July 2025 and we can’t wait to engage with our fans, guests and community in new ways," said Darren Rebelez, president and CEO of Casey's. "This venue holds significant importance for many across Iowa, the Midwest and beyond, and we’re grateful to be part of the popular sporting and entertainment events hosted here."

Wells Fargo, the arena's original naming rights partner, decided not to renew its agreement with the venue.

The arena has been the site of many concerts, comedy shows and sporting events. Upcoming events at Wells Fargo Arena include concerts with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra (Nov. 14), Pentatonix (Dec. 18) and Brooks and Dunn (April 24).
