URBANDALE, Iowa — Friday was opening night of Santa's Rock N' Lights at the Living History Farms and an estimated 700 cars came through. It's one of five similar events going on right now around the country.
It's a unique event because the lights actually connect to the music so visitors are able to experience both at once. The event also raises money for the Children's Miracle Network.
Organizers hope this can become an annual event for the Des Moines community.
"It's been well received in some of the other communities so we're hoping that it is here," said Senior Event Manager Sean Swearinger. "We want to give people plenty of time with their busy schedules this year. It's time to get out and do something COVID safe, but still celebrates and welcomes you into the holidays."
The event runs through January 3. You can find more information and pricing on the event here.
