AMES, Iowa — The results are in, the Iowa Beef Industry Council and the Iowa Cattlemen's Association have released this year's Top Ten finalists for the 2024 Iowa's Best Burger contest.
The Iowa Beef Industry Council received a record-breaking amount of participation during the nomination phase, with over 7,500 votes. Over 500 restaurants were nominated as part of the contest.
To qualify, the burger has to be 100% beef patty served on a bun or type of bread and may include condiments or toppings. As part of the 15th anniversary of the contest, the organizations allowed all previous Iowa's Best Burger winners to participate.
A panel of anonymous judges will stop at all 10 restaurants to evaluate each burger "based on taste, appearance and proper doneness (160 degrees Fahrenheit).
Here are the 10 places vying for the 2024 Iowa's Best Burger title:
- Big Head Burger, Waterloo
- Chuckwagon Restaurant, Adair
- Flight Bar + Grille, Huxley
- Houston's On Main, Milo
- JJ's Tavern + Grill, Ankeny
- Lucile's at The Continental Hotel, Centerville
- The Flying Elbow, Marshalltown
- The Market at the Tap, Monticello
- Wilder at Graduate Hotel Iowa City, Iowa City
- Williamson Tavern, Williamson
The winner will be announced on May 1, the start of May Beef Month.
