Winterset High School football team sports new jerseys to honor lives lost in 9/11, Afghanistan

The players also wore special decals on their helmets in their game against Van Meter Friday night.

WINTERSET, Iowa — A tribute in Winterset, not just for 9/11 victims, but for the 13 service members killed in Afghanistan last month.

Winterset High School football players wore special camo-style jerseys and decals on their helmets Friday night in honor of those people.

The Iowa Army National Guard donated the jerseys to the team. This is was the first year they've done so. The jerseys will be worn by a different football team each week for the rest of the season.
