DES MOINES, Iowa — Caitlin Clark is known for her heroics on the court, but a last-minute save is coming in cluck for two Iowa turkeys.

Gov. Kim Reynolds honored two turkeys, Caitlin and Clark, at the annual turkey pardoning ceremony Tuesday.

Both birds were raised by the Moline family in Manson. The two turkeys will now move to a noncommercial farm in Monticello.

“This Thanksgiving tradition is an opportunity to recognize the skill and dedication of Iowa turkey producers like the Molines, the fifth-generation farm family celebrating its 100th year, who contributed this year’s lucky birds,” Reynolds said. “It was a pleasure to join them in pardoning Caitlin and Clark."

The event was held at Terrace Hill in Des Moines and was attended by Iowa Turkey Federation staff and Secretary Mike Naig.

Reynolds' office reports Iowa ranks seventh in U.S. turkey productio. It's estimated the turkey industry employs and supports more than 38,000 Iowans.
