'This looks like a Hallmark movie' | Jingle in the Junction kicks off holiday season

Santa and Mrs. Claus stopped by West Des Moines for the honor of lighting the Christmas Tree this year.

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Valley Junction kicked off the holiday season Thursday night with Jingle in the Junction. Businesses extended their hours, and additional vendors lined the streets. A horse-drawn carriage transported visitors around the district.

New this year, Santa and Mrs. Claus stopped by West Des Moines for the honor of lighting the Christmas Tree.

"This is the first time we're going to light this tree," Santa Claus said.  "So I'm really excited to do this."

"Who doesn't love Christmas magic?" Mrs. Claus added.

Kids and families were very excited to see the pair, who were equally excited to see them.

"We hope to hear all of the things that all the little girls and boys would like for Christmas, and all the wishes, all the happy [things]." Mrs. Claus said.

The festivities attracted plenty of festive attendees, including Yaharia Espinosa, who brought her young daughter for their first visit.

"Now that I'm a mom, I try to find, holiday activities and cool things to take her too," Espinosa said.

Under the twinkling lights, the sound of carolers and other musicians filled the air.

"This looks like a Hallmark movie," Espinosa said.  "So definitely come out and check it out."
