DES MOINES, Iowa — The 2024 holiday season has plenty new in store for metro mainstay Jolly Holiday Lights.

Not only is it under new management, after being ran by Make-A-Wish Iowa for years, but the lights will be on display at the Iowa State Fairgrounds this season.

The location change comes after a long residence at Adventureland in Altoona and a brief stint at the Outlets of Des Moines.

New owners of event, Winterland Inc., say proceeds will continue to go back to Make-A-Wish along with the Iowa State Fair.

Of the $20 cost per vehicle admission, which is the same as last year, $1 will go to Make-A-Wish and $2 to fairground infrastructure and onsite services.

Depending on attendance, the money per vehicle that makes its way back to Make-A-Wish will only increase, according to new owner David Fred.

Jolly Holiday Lights will run from Nov. 29 to Jan. 4, 2025. The event will be open from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and holiday nights. It will close earlier at 9 p.m. on school nights.
