IOWA, USA — Monday, Nov. 11 is Veterans Day, a day where people across the country will honor those who have served in the U.S. military.
The federal holiday is connected to the end of World War I and wasn't officially called Veterans Day until 1954.
Now, seventy years later, businesses are getting in on the action by giving back to millions of veterans through special deals and discounts.
To take advantage of Monday's deals, all Iowans need to do is show a valid military ID or honorable discharge card for proof of service.

All Hy-Vee stores will offer a free buffet-style breakfast as part of the annual Veterans Day Breakfast on Monday, Nov. 11. The buffet will run from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Veterans and active-duty military members will also receive a 15% discount off their grocery purchases Monday.
Veterans and active-duty military members can receive a free coffee at all Kum & Go locations.
On Nov. 11, Casey's is thanking service members and on-duty, uniformed first responders by offering a free any-size coffee or fountain drink.
From Nov. 9 to Nov. 11, the zoo will be offering free admission for active military members and veterans, as well as half-price admission for up to four guests.
Active and retired veterans can get free admission from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 9.
Taco John's
The chain Mexican restaurant will be offering a free small crispy beef taco combo meal for current and former military members.
On Veteran’s Day, military members can receive a free 16-ounce beverage of their choice.
On Nov. 11, Fareway is offering 15% off to all active or retired military personnel.
Enjoy a free medium drink if you show a valid military ID.

All veterans and active military members can receive a free medium hot coffee or cold brew on Veterans Day.
National chains offering Veteran's Day discounts
On Veterans Day, all veterans and active-duty military will receive 30% off their purchase, in-store only.
Veterans and active duty military personnel can receive a free meal from a select menu by dining in at a participating location on Nov. 11.
The restaurant chain is offering free meals to veterans at participating restaurants. To redeem, just show a valid military ID.
Veterans can get a free Original Grand Slam on Nov. 11 from 5 a.m. to noon by presenting their valid military ID or DD214.
Want a donut? Dunkin' is offering active and retired military personnel a free donut on Nov. 11, with a limit of one per guest while supplies last.
The International House of Pancakes is celebrating Veterans Day by giving free Red White, and Blueberry Pancake Combo meals to any veterans who come in on Nov. 11 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Veterans can snag a free Lunch Combo, which includes four slices of deep dish pizza and a 20-oz drink, anytime between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Nov. 11.
