CLARINDA, Iowa — More than 50 people at a Clarinda company will be laid off early next year, according to the state's Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) database.
AKS Precision Ball in Clarinda filed a notice on Sept. 19 that they will close on March 31, 2025, leaving 54 employees without a job.
The company's website says it was founded in 1988 and was the first AKS plant in the United States. The plant manufactures precision balls made out of SUJ2 steel.
AKS Precision joins companies like Wells Fargo, John Deere and Kinze Manufacturing as Iowa employers with recent layoff notices.
