DES MOINES, Iowa — A fuel-less Kum & Go store will shutter its doors to customers later this month.
A spokesperson for Kum & Go told Local 5 the "urban walk-up store" located at 319 7th Street in downtown Des Moines will close on March 24.
The location, which did not feature gas pumps and instead served as a stand-alone convenience store, is the last of its kind under the Kum & Go brand.
"We’ve learned a lot from operating our fuel-less concepts, however, they no longer fit into our long-term plans in Des Moines," a spokesperson told Local 5. "We’ll continue to focus our efforts on locations that best serve our customers with fuel, delicious food, great service, and a clean and welcoming environment."
While the store will close to the public in just a few weeks, Kum & Go will continue to use the space for internal purposes such as training.
Kum & Go isn't the first chain store in downtown Des Moines to close this year. The Walgreens store located at 606 Walnut Street closed on Feb. 26.
