ANKENY, Iowa — A popular Ankeny indoor children's play space is closed for now.
Imagination Street announced on social media Thursday that "due to certain circumstances" the business would be closed "for the immediate and foreseeable future."
The business, located at 1345 SW Park Square Dr, thanked its customers for their "grace and understanding."
Imagination Street, which tried to inspire "creativity and imagination through play," welcomed children for birthday parties, classes, private events and open play sessions.
Their post has amassed hundreds of reactions and comments, with some people concerned about already booked birthday parties and deposits paid.
Others wished the business well and hoped everything was okay due to the unexpected announcement.
The business was open on Wednesday, according to a Facebook post advertising their hours. The next morning, Imagination Street said they would be closed and a few hours later they announced they would be closed going forward.
After learning about Imagination Street's closing, Waukee-based PLAYgrounds Cafe for Littles said in a post "today has been a roller coaster of emotions."
"As a fellow small business built for families, our hearts are hurting for their owners and staff," the post said. "We know first hand the amount of time, resources, and passion it takes to create these much needed spaces and want nothing but success for all of them in the DSM Metro. We hope their news, while disappointing, can be met with grace and understanding as they navigate their next steps."
Imagination Street did not give specifics in its post about the possibility of reopening in the future.
