CLIVE, Iowa — It's no secret that small businesses have been struggling across the country due to the pandemic, but Burn Boot Camp in Clive says that staying open during this time is actually costing them more.
Burn Boot Camp has designed workouts that keep clients healthy and that follows the pandemic protocols to keep them safe.
"I'm here for them at the end of the day and I sacrifice for the them so they have a safe place to come and spend 45 minutes at the gym," said trainer Roy Lowery.
Despite all the precautions businesses, such as Burn Boot Camp, are taking, coronavirus exposures can still happen and and exposure could make a business hit bottom-line.
"Because if your employees are sick an you don't have anybody to help you out, that's going to be a financial hardship for the business," said Small Business Development Center's Lisa Shimkat. "If for some reason you need to shut down because of safety protocols, that could be another hardship."
While closures mean lost revenue, being open means added expenses.
"Our team just gets together and pivots and figures out how to deliver workouts responsibly," said Burn Boot Camp owner Darci Evans.
