Peace Tree Brewing Company announces it will cease brewing operations

"We are proud to have achieved all we set out to do and more," the brewery said in a Facebook post.

DES MOINES, Iowa — A popular local brewery will cease brewing operations after nearly 15 years in business.

Peace Tree Brewing Company plans to wrap up production and distribution efforts in the coming weeks, the brewery announced Tuesday.

"We have had a fantastic run, blazing the way in the modern craft beer movement with innovative and thoughtful brews that helped kick off a brewing revolution in Iowa," Peace Tree Brewing Company wrote on Facebook. "...We are proud to have achieved all we set out to do and more."

The brewery's two taprooms in Des Moines and Knoxville will remain open "for the foreseeable future." Peace Tree brews will eventually be replaced by guest taps.

Peace Tree first opened in Knoxville in 2009, making it one of Iowa's first craft breweries, according to its website. The brewery is also the first fully woman-owned brewery in Iowa.

Fan favorite brews from Peace Tree include Blonde Fatale and Red Rambler. You can find these and other Peace Tree products on grocery store shelves and at Peace Tree taprooms until they're out of stock.
