AMES, Iowa — West Towne Pub in Ames is shuttering its doors after nearly 20 years in operation, the business announced on Facebook Monday.

The restaurant, located at 4518 Mortensen Road just a short drive from Iowa State University's campustown, served up burgers, beer and other classic American eats for 18 years. The spot touted itself as the "best place to watch the game" and hosted trivia nights, becoming a mainstay in the college town's ever-growing hangout options.

"As we bid farewell, we carry with us a treasure trove of memories that will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Though this chapter may be closing, the spirit of West Towne Pub will live on in the friendships formed, the laughter shared, and the love that permeated every corner of this establishment," the business shared on Facebook.

The restaurant's post and overall page appear to have since been deleted.

The post also thanked its staff and patrons for nearly two decades of unwavering support and dedication, saying the West Towne Pub family is "forever grateful for the joy you brought us".

The owners did not confirm what caused the closure, instead focusing on the memories made in its 18 years on Ames' west side.

"Cheers to the memories, the friendships, and the moments that made West Towne Pub truly special," the post reads
