DES MOINES, Iowa — The vacant building that once housed Zora Bar & Rooftop has been foreclosed on in Polk County District Court.
Court records show that Community 1st Credit Union made the filing on Wednesday, Sept. 4. The filing lists over $3 million of total debt owed by Zora developer Edwin Allen.
According to the Polk County Assessor, the land and building combine for a total assessed value of $1.76 million.
Situated on the corner of Ingersoll Avenue and MLK Jr. Parkway, Allen closed the business in August of 2023 after the city of Des Moines filed a public nuisance lawsuit against it.
Items that once filled the space were auctioned off in March. The location sits on prime real estate and remains up for grabs.
An Oct. 22 auction date has been set for the real estate.
