IowaWORKS' Mobile Workforce Center to offer help to those affected by Bridgestone layoff

The event to help those potentially looking for a new job will take place July 8.

DES MOINES, Iowa — IowaWORKS' Mobile Workforce Center will be at the USW Local 310 Union Hall parking lot across from the Des Moines Bridgestone plant July 8, noon until 4 p.m. to help those affected by the plant's upcoming layoffs.

The goal of the event is to assist in filing for unemployment, offer one-on-one career counseling and job search and placement assistance. 

Documents to validate identity are necessary for filing for unemployment. Valid, current, non-photocopied versions of the identification are required.

Acceptable primary and secondary forms of identification are listed below:

  • Driver’s license (or learner's permit) from a U.S. state (Paper documents are not accepted.)
  • State-issued photo ID
  • U.S. passport
  • HSPD 12 PIV card
  • U.S. passport card
  • U.S. Permanent resident card (I-551)
  • USCIS-issued Employment Authorization Card (I-766) (No employer-issued ID cards)
  • Government Issued Photo ID (No US military ID cards. Must be a permanent document with photo. Temporary and/or paper documents are not accepted.)
  • Foreign (non U.S.) passport
  • Veteran’s health ID card
  • Transportation Security Administration (TSA) ID Card
  • DHS trusted traveler cards (Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI)
  • Canadian driver’s license
  • Certificate of Naturalization (Form N-550 or N-570)
  • National ID card (only if residing outside of the U.S.)

Video call verification may also be acceptable if a temporary ID is all an individual has.
