Ankeny is building a 2.5 million gallon water tower: When will it be finished?

The project is expected to finish sometime in the next year, alongside other new buildings.

ANKENY, Iowa — Ankeny is building a new water tower on NW Irvinedale Drive, part of a project that will add at least two more buildings to support the city's rapid growth.

The new water tower is projected to hold approximately 2.5 million gallons of water, and is expected to finish construction at some point in the fall of 2025. The other buildings involved in the project will include a bulk water station as well as a salt storage building, according to the city.

Ankeny decided to construct the water tower in order to address the lack of water pressure for residents in the northwestern section of the city. The water tower, once complete, will allow for more consistent pressure across the board, allowing households that currently struggle with multiple water outlets operating at the same time to see better performance.

While the water tower is being built, Ankeny has told its residents that there will be no disruption of current services.

Ankeny currently has two water towers that serve the city's population. The total cost of the project is $9,751,758.59.
