Ames police ask for help identifying suspect who broke into home on Christmas Day

The real-life Grinch broke into an Ames house around 10:30 a.m. on Christmas Day, according to police.

AMES, Iowa — The Ames Police Department is looking for a real-life Grinch following a Christmas morning break-in. 

Police say the intruder, who was wearing a red sweatshirt, a gray mask and had brown hair, broke into the home around 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 25. 

If you have any information about the break-in, police ask you call the Ames Police Department at (515) 239-5133, the anonymous tip line (515) 239-5533 or through Crime Stoppers of Central Iowa at (515) 223-1400. 

"We need your help!  The person in this photo decided to ruin someone's holiday by breaking into their house on December 25th at 10:32 in the morning.  Do you recognize the suspect?" the department shared on Facebook.
