16-year-old arrested in connection to Saturday stabbing, Ames police say

​Ames police believe there is no ongoing threat to the public.

AMES, Iowa — One person has been arrested following an afternoon stabbing in Ames, police said in a press release.

The suspect, identified only as a 16-year-old male from Ames, is charged with Willful Injury - Causing Serious Injury, a class C felony. 

The arrest comes just hours after police responded to reports of a stabbing on Delaware Avenue at approximately 1:35 p.m. Saturday.

A male victim was located at the scene and transported to a local hospital. Police say the condition of the victim is currently unknown. 

Ames police believe there is no ongoing threat to the public.
