Ankeny doctor convicted for sexually assaulting child in June 2023

73-year-old Ankeny doctor Lynn Lindaman was convicted of sexual assault after sexually abusing an 8-year-old child in his home last June.

ANKENY, Iowa — An Ankeny doctor was convicted of second-degree sexual assault, a Class B felony in Iowa, by a Polk County jury on Friday.

73-year-old Lynn Lindaman sexually abused an 8-year-old child in his home back in June 2023, according to a release from the Polk County Attorney's Office.

He has also been previously convicted for lascivious acts with a child in 1976 in Johnson County. In that case, he was granted deferred judgment.

Now, he faces a mandatory minimum of 17.5 years in prison, though the sexual assault charge itself carries 25 years. Prosecutors levied an enhanced charge against Lindaman due to his previous conviction in 1976, which would potentially bump his prison term up to 50 years, if convicted.

Lindaman is scheduled to stand trial on April 1, 2024.
