DES MOINES, Iowa — A man is charged with murder in connection to a January 2022 hit-and-run, Des Moines police said in a press release.

Police have filed the following charges against 24-year-old Davossi Erin Wisdom:

  • Murder (1st degree)
  • Theft (2nd degree)

The charges come almost two years after police responded to calls of a pedestrian being hit by a car near the intersection of Southeast 8th Street and East Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway on Jan. 12, 2022.

When officers arrived, they found 32-year-old William "Cody" Kline, of Des Moines, with serious injuries. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Police say evidence indicates Wisdom intentionally ran over Kline, even circling back repeatedly to run him over multiple times.

In addition to these charges, Wisdom is charged with Leaving the Scene of An Accident for a separate hit-and-run crash that occurred the same night near the intersection of 9th Street and Forest Avenue.

Wisdom is currently incarcerated on four felonies committed between Jan. 10 and Jan. 13, 2022.

5 days of crime in January 2022. 4 felony convictions in April 2022. 3 dedicated DMPD sections working to close 2 open cases, including filing 1 Murder charge in a vicious hit and run death. #Crimefighters #safeneighborhoods #CaseClosed
