DES MOINES, Iowa — A man is now charged in connection to a child's death from last year.
The Des Moines Police Department said 29-year-old Austin Johnson is charged with one count of Child Endangerment Causing Death.
Officers said a four-year-old boy, whom Johnson cared for, fell and later died from blunt force injuries to his head in late February 2021.
Johnson has been jailed in Polk County since last month on an unrelated child endangerment charge.
"Victim ... did die of blunt force injuries to the head while in the case of [Johnson]," a criminal complaint states.
