DES MOINES, Iowa — The Polk County Sheriff's Office has identified the woman killed in a Friday shooting in the northern part of Des Moines.
Capt. Ryan Evans of the Polk County Sheriff's Office said the first deputy was on scene at the home on NW 51st Place at 5:24 p.m. Friday, just three minutes after shots were reported in the home.
The sheriff's office announced that 24-year-old Hamza Smajlovic has been charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder and intimidation with a dangerous weapon.
Officials said Smajlovic resided in the home where the incident took place.
An adult man and an adult woman were discovered with gunshot wounds and quickly transported to the hospital. The female victim, identified as 45-year-old Sue Ann Robison, later died.
The sheriff's office said Robinson and another man were at the home helping Smajlovich's ex-girlfriend move out when the shooting happened.
The male victim remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Smajlovic is currently in custody at Polk County Jail.
