DES MOINES, Iowa — One person is dead and another is injured following a shooting in Des Moines Wednesday morning, Des Moines police said in a press release.
Police responded to a report of a shooting in the Ramada by Wyndham near the Des Moines International Airport at approximately 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.
When they arrived, first responders found two men with gunshot wounds in a hotel room. One of the men, identified as a 30-year-old Des Moines resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The second man, a 31-year-old Des Moines resident, was transported to a local hospital. He remains hospitalized in "critical condition" as of 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Police were able to secure the scene by 5 a.m. and believe there is no ongoing danger to the neighborhood.
This is Des Moines' second homicide of 2024.
