UPDATE: Des Moines police arrest attempted murder suspect

Officers say the shooting happened near SE 14th Street and Harriet Street, not far from Des Moines Animal Services.

DES MOINES, Iowa —

Update:

Des Moines Police arrested attempted murder suspect Chad Luesebrink Sunday morning.

Luesebrink is accused of trying to kill a 45-year-old woman at a homeless camp shooting last week.

Police, acting on a tip, were able to locate and arrest him in without incident.

Luesebrink is currently being held at the Polk County Jail.

The victim is still recovering, according to a DMPD post.

Des Moines police are asking the public for help locating a suspect in a recent shooting. 

50-year-old Chad "Stormy" Luesebrink is wanted in connection to the attempted murder of a 45-year-old woman earlier this week. 

Officers said the shooting happened in at a homeless camp, near SE 14th Street and Harriet Street, not far from Des Moines Animal Services. 

Police said Luesebrink is "known to frequent homeless camps near the river/downtown area." 

The shooting left the victim hospitalized in serious condition. Local 5 has not received any updates on the victim's current condition. 

Luesebrink is 5'9" tall and weighs approximately 175 pounds. Police believe he is armed with a handgun. 

Anyone who sees Luesebrink is asked to call 911.
