Shooting victim transports themselves to hospital, Des Moines police investigating

The incident poses no more concern to the neighborhood, police said.

DES MOINES, Iowa — Des Moines police are investigating a Wednesday night shooting near the 2600 block of Douglas Avenue after a victim transported themselves to a hospital.

Danger is not a concern in the neighborhood where the incident occurred, DMPD said. The victim is expected to survive, they added.

Evidence at the crime scene including recovered shell casings suggests gunfire, authorities said. 

DMPD has said their investigation is ongoing.
