INDIANOLA, Iowa — A suspect is in custody Thursday afternoon after leading Indianola police on a car chase through Warren County.
Officers responded to a "road rage incident" on North Jefferson Way at around 12:30 p.m. When they arrived, the suspect drove away from the officers, leading police on a car chase, a press release states.
Police followed the suspect's car north and onto the Highway 5 bypass. The suspect traveled through Carlisle, Hartford and into Marion County with police in pursuit.
Police eventually used a "precision immobilization technique" to stop the car chase, the release adds. The suspect exited the car and fled on foot, before being tased and taken into custody.
In total, police estimate the chase lasted about 12 minutes.
The suspect has been identified as 23-year-old Sagar Bhandari of Des Moines.
Bhandari faces the following charges:
- Theft in the Second Degree — Possession of a stolen vehicle
- Felony Eluding
- Interference with official acts
- Speed (x3)
- Failure to stop at a traffic control device
- Failure to stop at a stop sign
- No proof of insurance
- Reckless driving
