Former Norwalk student charged with Threat of Terrorism against elementary school

The threat to the school district was made Tuesday, Sept. 10.

NORWALK, Iowa — A former Norwalk Public Schools student was arrested after making threats directed at the school district primarily targeting Oviatt Elementary, Norwalk Police Department announced Monday.

Margaret Anderson, also known as Maxwell Anderson, was arrested after the threat of violence was made Sept. 10.

Law enforcement worked with school staff to investigate and coordinate a response following the threat and Anderson was "removed from public" according to police.

Anderson has been charged with Threat of Terrorism under Iowa Code 708.5 and is being held at the Warren County Jail without bond.

Norwalk police said there will be no further statements on the case at this time.
