MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa — A 16-year-old male has been taken into custody following a Wednesday fire at an old hospital site once owned by UnityPoint, Marshalltown Police Department announced.

Less than a week ago, four Des Moines men were arrested attempting to steal copper pipes from the site.

Shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday, emergency crews arrived at the site located at 3 South 4th Avenue following report of a structure fire.

Firefighters climbed ladders and placed a horizontal standpipe along the building's roof to gain access to a stairwell and the fire.
