LE GRAND, Iowa — A Le Grand man is facing multiple felonies after fleeing from police twice, striking a police car and hiding from law enforcement in a home early Saturday morning.
Police say 26-year-old Jermaine Oden of Le Grand did not stop when a Marshall County deputy attempted to pull him over for a traffic violation around 6 a.m. on Saturday.
Fleeing from the stop, Oden headed to Montour in Tama County and entered the town driving "in excess of 100mph". The Marshall County deputy stopped the chase after losing sight of Oden's vehicle in town, but Tama police found the car later and another chase began.
Stop Stick tire-deflation devices worked on two of Oden's tires, but the chase continued west, back toward LeGrand in Marshall County.
In Le Grand, Oden hit a Tama police patrol vehicle before leaving his car behind and running away on foot. Oden ran into a residence and remained inside for 30 minutes while law enforcement attempted to negotiate with him.
Oden was taken into custody after half an hour "without further incident".
Oden was arrested and charged with:
- Eluding, 2nd or subsequent offense - Class C Felony
- Assault on Person in Certain Occupations - Class D Felony
- Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree - Class D Felony
- Driving While Barred - Aggravated Misdemeanor
- Speeding, 100mph in 55mph zone - Simple Misdemeanor
- Operate Non Registered Vehicle - Simple Misdemeanor
- Driving Under Suspension - Simple Misdemeanor
