Marion County sting operation nets 4 alleged sexual predators

MARION COUNTY, Iowa — The Marion County Sheriff's Office announced Thursday it had made four arrests following a child sexual predator sting on Wednesday.

The sting, called "Operation Black Veil 3.0," led to the arrest of four individuals travelling to Marion County with intent to commit an illegal sex act upon or sexually exploit a minor under 16-years-old, according to the sheriff's office.

The four arrested and their charges are as follows:

Herve Twagirumukize, 27, of Ames 

  • Child Enticement
  • Person Ineligible to Carry a Weapon
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Possession of Marijuana

Chadwick Cooper, 40, of Colfax

  • Child Enticement
  • Distributing Obscene Material to a Minor
  • Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.

Jason Glasgow, 49, of Oskaloosa

  • Possession of Controlled Substance
  • Possession of Marijuana

Marion County Sheriff's Office was reportedly assisted on the sting by the following: Marion County Attorney’s Office, Knoxville Police Department, Pella Police Department, Mid Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, Iowa State University Police Department, Des Moines County, Wapello County, Henry County Sheriff’s Office and Altoona Police Department.

In the office's release, Sheriff Jason Sandholdt stated, “I am so proud of all the law enforcement officers from the different agencies and Prosecutor’s that made yesterday’s event possible. Even with many of these officer’s meeting for the very first time yesterday they came together as a well-oiled machine to make these arrests efficiently and effectively. We will all continue to proactively go after these predators, in a unified way, so that they cannot prey upon our children! Beware to some individuals still out there that are not listed above- we have the evidence, and more arrests are coming in the days and months ahead. I cannot wait to host you in our jail.”
