Marshalltown PD, Iowa DCI investigating Saturday death

Police responded to a medical emergency at 5:45 a.m. Saturday where an unresponsive man was found.

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa — Authorities with the Marshalltown Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are investigating a death early Saturday morning.

Police responded to a medical emergency at 5:45 a.m. Saturday after receiving a report of a person in the roadway around North 12th Avenue and Bromley Street in Marshalltown, according to officials.

Police say once at the scene, responders found an unresponsive man with traumatic injuries in the roadway.

The man was transported to the Marshalltown Hospital and later moved to a Des Moines medical facility. The man has since died.

Marshalltown Police and Iowa DCI are conducting a death investigation. The cause of death is not known at this time and the man's name has not been publicly released.
