Nevada police searching for driver following hit-and-run Wednesday that injured elderly man

The incident occurred around 11 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of West 1st Street and West M Avenue.

NEVADA, Iowa — The Nevada Police Department is asking for help locating the owner of a newer F-150 4-door pickup truck following a hit-and-run that hospitalized an elderly man Wednesday.

At approximately 11 a.m. the Nevada Public Safety Department responded to an emergency call at the intersection of West 1st Street and West M Avenue in Nevada where a man was found in need of medical attention.

The man had been walking his dog on West 1st Street and had turned onto West M Avenue.

He received medical attention on scene and was transported to the hospital where he remains at this time.

The victim said he had been struck by a white pickup.

Video collected from the scene shows a white Ford crew-cab pickup parked in the lot of Hetzler and Rhodes Concrete. It appeared to have a toolbox in the bed of the truck.

The driver returned to the truck from the building and proceeded to back out, hitting the victim.

The pickup then drove away using routine speeds and following traffic signs.  The vehicle was last seen going west on Lincoln Highway.

Nevada police say the vehicle and its driver have not been identified, but that there is no believed danger present to the community.
