OTTUMWA, Iowa — A man is dead after he was stabbed at a park in Ottumwa overnight, police said in a press release.
Ottumwa police responded to Foster Park just after 1 a.m. to investigate reports of a stabbing. When they arrived, police found 40-year-old Jeffrey Wayne Johns of Ottumwa with a stab wound to his torso.
Johns was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Ottumwa police executed a search warrant at a home on E. Main Street at around 9:10 a.m. Tuesday. Officers found the suspect hiding in the attic area of the home.
The suspect, 32-year-old Joshua Michael, was taken into custody. He is charged with Murder in the First Degree.
