PLEASANT HILL, Iowa — A student at Southeast Polk Junior High School has been charged with terrorist threats for "causing concerns about their peers’ safety," Pleasant Hill police said Monday.
In a press release, the Pleasant Hill Police Department said school resource officers and administrators with the Southeast Polk Community School District were made aware of a threat towards a junior high student on Friday.
Following an investigation over the weekend, officials were able to find the source of the threats and the student was then charged.
"We thank the students, parents, and staff who came forward to assist in reporting their observations," the police department said in a statement. "Working together to continue living in a safe community is everyone’s priority."
