Riverview Park closes brand new restrooms due to 'severe' vandalism

The new restrooms were "severely vandalized" according to a press release.

DES MOINES, Iowa — Des Moines Parks and Recreation announced in a public post Monday that over the weekend their newest restroom facilities at Riverview Park were severely vandalized with fireworks. Due to the severity of the damage, the facilities were immediately shut down until further notice.

"Unfortunately, this means the restrooms will likely remain closed for the big concert planned for this Friday, July 5," the release said.

Des Moines Parks and Recreation said they are working closely with Des Moines Police to identify those involved with the crime. They also announced a $1,000 dollar reward for anyone that provides information that leads to an arrest.
