Multiple hour standoff in Des Moines after Iowa State Patrol pursuit

Multiple agencies were on the the scene.

DES MOINES, Iowa — A pursuit Monday just before noon led to a man barricaded in a Des Moines home near Sheridan Park at the 2900 block of East 40th St.

A perimeter was established by a group of agencies including DMPD and Iowa State Patrol.

Iowa State Patrol was the agency initially handling the pursuit of the involved vehicle with DMPD supporting on scene.

It is reported by police that the individual who barricaded himself had felony warrants for arrest.

With the perimeter in place, negotiations began and around three hours later it was reported by DMPD that the barricaded individual was in custody.

Tear gas was used police said, but ultimately the man did come out voluntarily.
